Top four storm damage roofing issues

Your roof protects you from the elements, so it makes sense to keep it in good shape.

It’s important to understand the issues that can undermine the protection of your roof.

Here are four common roofing problems and what you can do about them.

Poor Installation

If your roofing installation was poorly installed it’s best to address the problem as soon as it’s noticed to be sure it doesn’t become a bigger issue. In some cases we can make repairs, but in other instances you may be better off getting a roof replacement, depending on the extent of the issues.

We can provide a free inspection and quotation and give you our recommendation for what your best option would be.

Damaged tiles

One of the biggest issues we encounter is a roof that isn’t taken care of properly. Check your roof often for broken tiles, damaged gutters, evidence of leaks and other damage.

Caught early, you can save yourself the price of costly repairs by taking care of things right away.

Leaking Roof

If the insulation gets very wet, it may mean your sarking is damaged. The weight of water from storms can compress the insulation and damage the sarking underneath your tiles. Depending on the year your house was built, you may not even have sarking. It acts as a barrier to hail or flying debris so is worth considering if not already in place. Evidence of a leak includes visible water coming from the roof, water stains on your ceiling, mould and mildew anywhere in your home, but generally near the roof itself.

You can see evidence of a leak either inside or outside your home, sometimes both. If you suspect you have a leak, call us right away so it doesn’t get worse.

Clogged Gutters

One of the most common roofing problems is gutters that aren’t clean. It’s important to clear your gutters often to allow proper water flow during a storm. Failure to do so can lead to water damage to your home, a roof leak and other problems. we can also install gutter guard (leaf guard) to prevent leaves from clogging your gutters as a preventative measure.

This should be done every six months. Taking care of your roof means taking care of your gutters as well.
